Derek Walmsley served 30 years in the UK Police as a Detective working on the National Crime Squad, investigating serious and organized crime both nationally and internationally.
In 2001 Derek retired from the Police and joined Lilly’s global product protection team, a ten strong unit located strategically worldwide. It is made up of ex-law enforcement officers with backgrounds similar to Derek’s.
Derek is currently the regional manager of Lilly global product protection team for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa region).
Derek’s group is part of the Lilly anti counterfeit efforts. Their remit is to target, investigate and collect evidence against large-scale, organized, worldwide trans-national groups that engage in the illegal manufacture, sale and distribution of counterfeit Lilly medicinal products.
Investigations are conducted in partnership with regional government and law enforcement authorities with the goal of disrupting, and to the extent possible dismantling the organization through criminal prosecution or the appropriate civil action
